A number of the owners of the Tasaleh shops in the Al-Mugrah area on Al-Hajj Street in Makkah Al-Mukarramah called on the concerned authorities to allocate a new location for them in the north of the holy capital. Youssef Jaber Al-Muhammadi, Abdullah Fayez Al-Harbi, Hani Saeed Al-Suraihi and Talal Muhammad Al-Otaibi told “Okaz”: The Municipality of the Holy Capital obligated them to move to the industrial city in Al-Akaishiya during the coming period. They pointed out that the new city does not have the necessary spaces for construction, which were specified by the requirements at 2,200 square meters, in addition to the lack of basic services such as water, electricity and sewage.
They added: Allocating a new site in the north from the side of Al-Nawwariya neighborhood will facilitate the transportation process, given that the stores contain equipment, spare parts, and many scrap cars that require labor, time, and large cars to transport them, and that the distribution of industrial cities in the four outskirts of Makkah Al-Mukarramah contributes to the revitalization of peripheral areas and reduces Traffic congestion in the event that the city includes several commercial activities, and reduces the time it takes citizens to reach these cities in the event that they are far away, such as the city currently located in Al-Akaishiyah neighborhood.
The speakers demanded a period of no less than two years for transportation if they were forced to do so, pointing out that the lease contracts in the industrial city should be long-term, as is the case in all regions and governorates of the Kingdom, given that the repair shops need special equipment and a large material cost.
On the other hand, the spokesman for the Municipality of the Holy Capital, Osama Zeitouni, said that there is no extension because the municipality has informed the shop owners long and sufficiently, and as for the new site, it is ready to a large extent, designed with the highest standards, and characterized by various areas, in addition to containing suitable sites and integrated services. The spokesman added: The Secretariat is currently following the completion of some simple equipment that does not constitute an obstacle to the transition.
