Tributes To Chan Patterson

Below are some of the statements shared across social media users’ timelines on the death of Patterson.

“I didn’t know Chan Patterson. We worked different shifts and different battalions and then even different FDs as he joined the GFD family. Throughout the day today, I’ve read a lot about him and just by social media and a few friends, I’ve learned more about that young man than I ever knew prior to today. What I can tell you for sure, is that it is evident that he was an outstanding young man with an amazing heart and an infectious smile and personality. He left behind a great and loving wife and family and a ton of friends who all loved him very much. All that said, I just absolutely refuse to believe otherwise that he will spend eternity anywhere else but Heaven, walking on streets of gold. My heart and prayers go out to all this young man’s friends and family as well as the Gainesville Fire Department family. I’m so sorry for your loss. Hug your loved ones every day and never leave home or go to bed without them knowing how much you love them. You just never know. I just know that it seems as if the world and the fire family lost another damn good one, way too soon. God bless every one of you.”

“This is without a doubt one of the saddest things I’ve heard in a long time.
What I loved about Chan was even though he was one of the most popular guys in high school, he would talk to anybody outside of his clique. He loved people. He loved to make people laugh. He loved his mom and dad, and especially his best friend- his sister Cylvie.
I pray for his sweet wife. I pray for his sweet family who my family has known basically all of our lives.
Patterson family I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to all of his close friends as well. Everybody loved him. There are no words for this tragedy. I pray that God comforts all of our aching hearts.
Chan, we will see you again soon. Hold a seat next to Jesus for us. We love you. Your community loves you. You will be greatly missed.”
