“Probably the purest and most genuine Christian I’ve ever encountered in my life,” said one friend.

With sadness and hope in the God of life I communicate that sister death visited this morning, my brother Franciscan and priest of the parish I serve, Fr. Chris Posch.
Rest in peace brother. You have been a beautiful gift from God to the world, especially with the immigrant community, whom you loved deeply. I will miss you so much.

Dear friends, I ask for your prayers for the repose of my brother Franciscan friar Fr. Chris Posch, OFM, a true servant of St. Francis always committed to the poor and marginalized, especially the Latinx communities in the US, who yesterday “Embraced Sister Death” as St. Francis would say. The pastor of a large multicultural parish in the Archdiocese of Washington DC, he was only 58, having suffered for weeks in the ICU on a ventilator with serious pneumonia. It is still a shock for all of us — he will be missed.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
