Please take a moment to pray with us as JCU has lost one of its own, Chris Wenzler. Today, Chris lost his 26 month battle. He fought every second of every day not only for himself, but for everyone he came into contact with. May his legacy shine down on JCU now and forever.

Chris Wenzler, the sports information director for John Carroll University, died yesterday afternoon. He was my close friend since 1983 and the loss of his kind, booming voice leaves a strange and unwelcome silence in the world this morning.

Chris Wenzler – this man is synonymous with John Carroll University. You’ll find it hard pressed to utter John Carroll without thinking of Chris. He’s been a mainstay and an integral part of this university for over 30+ years. Chris perfectly and selflessly has always embodied what John Carroll and it’s jesuit mission is all about. You’ll find no better person than Chris. He has touched and affected so many lives for the better, you begin to lose count because he has just meant so much to so many people. Chris has been battling cancer over the last few years. He’s done so with the utmost faith and optimism. However, this terrible disease has no remorse as Chris is now a terminal cancer patient and at home, under hospice care. Please keep Chris, his family and the entire JCU community in your thoughts & prayers. We are all fortunate to be apart of the Wenzler Warriors and we’re all better for it. Thank you, Chris!!
