Marco Panuccio Death: Marco Panuccio, an operatic tenor, and longtime Cincinnati Opera artist, passed away after a brief illness according to Cincinnati Opera. On Monday, November 29, 2021, Cincinnati Opera on their official Facebook page announces his death. According to Opera audiences will recognize Marco from his many memorable appearances in their mainstage and community productions, including critically acclaimed leading performances as “Mao Tse-Tung in John Adams’s NIXON IN CHINA (2007) and Edgard in the French version of Gaetano Donizetti’s LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR (2008).”
He is a native of Pennsylvania, he attended Temple University and UC’s esteemed College-Conservatory of Music. The post also stated that Marco also sang leading roles at Lyric Opera of Chicago, Florida Grand Opera, and Michigan Opera Theater, among others, and he performed internationally at Venice’s La Fenice, U.K.’s Grange Park Opera, and Ireland’s Wexford Festival. He also made several notable appearances with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops. he was best known for his annual “O Holy Night” concert, which began at Cincinnati’s Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains in 2010 and toured nationally, earning him a regional Emmy nomination.
Ashley Tongret says he was the backbone of the Opera Express tours. And he certainly loved those of them on Chris Milligan’s marketing team at Cincinnati Opera. She also said he loved singing and he loved traveling, he had strong opinions, and he loved and hated with equal ferocity. He was smart and hilarious and insightful and profane. He could be cutting, but also extremely kind.
