The former editor-in-chief of Al-Nadi newspaper, Khaled Ahmed Al-Awefi, has moved to the mercy of God Almighty. He prayed for the deceased this afternoon (Wednesday), at the Grand Mosque in Makkah Al-Mukarramah, and was buried in the tombs of Al-Mu’alla.

Condolences will be received at the house of the deceased, located in Al-Manar neighborhood, next to Hamdan Mosque in Jeddah.

The deceased worked in the technical department of Okaz newspaper, then moved to Al-Nadi magazine, and he had great contributions in transforming it into a daily newspaper, and he held the position of editor-in-chief for several years. He participated in the coverage of many press sports events.

The editor-in-chief of the former Al-Nadi newspaper, colleague Badr Al-Ghanimi, wrote a tweet in which he mourned the late: “Dear friend Khaled Al-Awefi passed away under the protection of his Lord and the rope of his neighborhood. He passed away and left in our hearts pain, sadness and anguish over his departure. The elegant and gentle departed, after giving the sports press the juice of his brilliance through the club; A magazine and a newspaper, and its fresh air was the key to its secrets.

And magnify our reward for you and the reward of your children, family and lovers.

Former editor-in-chief of Al-Nadi newspaper, colleague Saleh Al-Amoudi, said: “We ask God to bless our colleague Khaled Al-Awaifi with the abundance of his mercy and dwell him in his spacious gardens, and to make what afflicted him in the disease of death a purification and elevation in the gardens of bliss.

Goodbye, “Abu Ahmed.” I knew you well when you were the editor-in-chief of “Al-Nadi” newspaper, and I found in you the spirit of a journalist who loves his work and is diligent in his giving.

Colleague Abdullah Salman wrote: “May God have mercy on the companion of the path, Khaled Al-Awaifi. May God send him down to the homes of the righteous and the martyrs.”

“Abu Ahmed” lived next to us at home, and we worked together for 25 years, during which he was a good brother in character and deed, working silently and not liking to be seen.

And “Okaz”, which brought the news, extends its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, asking God to cover him with the abundance of his mercy and dwell him in his spacious gardens and inspire his family patience and solace. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
