So sad to learn of Cynthia’s passing today. It was always “Kit and Cynthia” in the early days of the Deep Ellum Film Festival and AFI Dallas brainstorming and helping connect us with amazing storytellers like Peter Beard, Griffin Dunne, Guillermo De Toro and most importantly Hunter Carson. The DE/F2 in 99 would not have launched without their support, or survived in 2000 which means the Dallas Film Society would not have evolved out of that movement and a lot of filmmakers would not have had that boost to find their voice. If Kit’s Ying was the film spiritual guru we all loved, Cynthia’s Yang was the pragmatic producer who asked the hard questions and got it done. Rest In Peace Cynthia.
