David Capel was the first person to ever really coach me as a young player in Milton Keynes and he really made an impact on me as a youngster. Was a privilege to have him as a coach @STONYCC years later. A fabulous cricketer @NorthantsCCC and an absolute gentleman. Will miss him

Very sad news about the death of David Capel at just 57; a genuine one-county man, who has been battling a brain tumour for two years. A few Scots played at Wantage Road including Kyle Coetzer! David Capel: Former England and Northants all-rounder dies

So sad to hear of the death of David Capel aged 57. He was one of a generation of allrounders who suffered from constant comparisons with Ian Botham. He wasn’t nearly in his class but was a good player nonetheless. Here he is on his way to his Test-best 98 at Karachi in 1987-88

RIP David Capel, a great entertainer in a fabulous team who certainly did their best to light up Northampton in the 1990’s. Extremely happy memories of that team @ Wantage Rd… Larkins, Lamb, Ambrose, Capel etc.’

Very sad to hear of the death at the age of just 57 of David Capel, a lovely man, fine all-rounder and one of the biggest triers on the cricket field you could ever see.
