The head of the opposition Syrian National Renewal Movement, Obeida Nahas, confirmed that Saudi Arabia's hosting of three historic summits, in the presence of US President Donald Trump, means that things have begun to return to normal in our Arab region and have adjusted their rhythm.
In a statement to Okaz, Nahas noted that the main pillars of these summits were terrorism, so that serious work would begin to besiege extremism, terrorism and the unjust aggression that the peoples of the region were subjected to, foremost among them the Syrian people who faced all kinds of terrorism from the regime to ISIS and ending with Iran.
He pointed out that confronting Iranian terrorism is in Syria, as it is the first hotbed in the region for the terrorism of Iran, Hezbollah and ISIS, as well as the Syrian regime, pointing out that this type of terrorism is what destroyed Syria over the course of six years.
And he appreciated the leadership role of Saudi Arabia in defending the peoples of the Arab and Islamic region, considering that the recent Riyadh summit and what resulted from it is an opportunity to establish an Arab-Islamic alliance that enjoys international respect, and to correct the policies that have weakened our country and our region and exhausted it from interference. He appealed to Saudi Arabia and Arab and Muslim leaders to continue their support, and to put the rights of the Syrian people at the top of their priorities, stressing that the historic Riyadh summit put points on the letters and set the compass for efforts to combat terrorism, and put the interest of the peoples of the region ahead of the agendas of sabotage and extremism, which is what we are familiar with from Riyadh.
The National Renewal Movement stressed the importance of Saudi Arabia in defending the interests of the Arab countries, indicating that the Kingdom today is more powerful and capable of bringing together the word of Muslims and the countries of the region for security and stability.
The movement explained that the political messages from the three summits in Riyadh were clear. It is that Saudi Arabia is first and foremost in international and regional political calculations, hence Trump's first visit to the Kingdom. The Syrian opposition is counting on the Riyadh strategic summits, especially since the Iranian threat to the region issues these summits, calling for confronting Iran in Syria before anywhere else.
