Dickson was the most significant driving force behind the LR Tech Park project and is arguably the main reason it exists. A selfless leader and mentor to many, he was a true advocate for the city of Little Rock. Dickson was a remarkably humble, iconic businessman that will be greatly missed.
We lost a great one today. A few minutes ago, I learned that my dear friend, former business partner and mentor Dickson Flake passed away today. Dickson did so much for so many in central Arkansas over five decades — his shoes will be impossible to fill.
My post below from 9 months ago sums up how I feel about him. He was a wonderful man who taught me so much in so many areas of life. His belief, confidence and trust in me while we were together was greatly valued and appreciated — I wanted to earn it every day and never wanted to disappoint him — no matter what it took. That’s how I felt about him. After leaving the firm, our occasional lunches together cemented our friendship even further. That’s what I will miss the most. Goodbye dear friend. You will be greatly missed.

Today I had the privilege of having lunch with Dickson Flake, one of my greatest mentors and most treasured friendships. I was able to express to him the deep love, admiration and respect I have for him. While I was a partner with him at Colliers International, Dickson taught me so much about life, business, commercial real estate and commitment to client service standards. He modeled the firm’s core values of “Integrity before the Client, Client before the Firm, the Firm before Self”. As a deserving inducted member of the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame, Dickson has made numerous impactful contributions to our state, several colleges and universities and the greater Little Rock community, and that continues to this day. Well done, Dickson! I’m proud to call you my mentor and friend.
As the news of Dickson Flake’s passing spread across our community, I was immediately reminded of this beautiful picture of him and his wife, Linda. This was taken at my book signing last year. The Flake’s support that evening is one of my favorite memories from the event.
Dickson Flake’s contributions to our community and state are immeasurable. His belief in my business will forever encourage me, and his friendship will always remain in my heart.
We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
