Don McClellan Death – Dead | Obituary – Passed Away
Don McClellan Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Don McClellan.
Lost a friend and colleague yesterday. I will surely miss him. Many of you have watched him since he began at WSB in 1960
Don McClellan, a WSB-TV legend who became known for his running coverage of the AJC Peachtree Road Race, died Sunday morning, just a little over a week before his 89th birthday. He died peacefully at his home in Smyrna after a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease. The Tennessee native reported on TV for a remarkable 55 years before retiring a few years back. The Georgia Association of Broadcasters inducted Don into the GAB Hall of Fame in 2010. He loved telling a good story, and if it had anything to do with running, it was all the better. Don ran more than 100 marathons in his life. He covered the AJC Peachtree Road Race every year and became known for running with a camera while interviewing runners along the way. Even after his Parkinson’s diagnosis, McClellan continued jogging and walking.
