The appointment of Princess Rima bint Bandar opened horizons for Saudi women to practice sports according to the regulations followed in the Kingdom.

And Saudi women proved their ability and creativity in achieving successes and breaking into fields of work that were limited to men, and after the approval of the Saudi Council of Ministers on the “National Transformation 2020” plan, all sectors began to provide and prepare institutions to attract female cadres and create a work environment capable of absorbing them. This culminated in a number of decisions. Most notably:

family council

The Council of Ministers approved the Family Council and included the approval of many matters, most notably the establishment of three committees: the Children's Committee, the Elderly Committee, and the Women's Committee.

The organization aims to enhance the status of the family and its role in society, and for this purpose it has the right to exercise the necessary powers and competencies, such as preparing a draft strategy for the family in coordination with the relevant authorities, submitting it to complete the regular procedures, following up on its implementation and correcting it periodically, in addition to working on the establishment of governmental and private agencies related to the family. with its roles, achieving its goals, and coordinating between them, in order to form a common vision for the family.

Women empowerment services

And the royal order to provide services to Saudi women came to settle a long debate about women’s rights, which was justified by this historic decision that will restore women’s life to normal, and grant them the capacity that Sharia originally granted them. The kingdom is against her, especially after it became clear that there is unfairness and injustice on the part of some guardians and guardians of women by depriving them of education and the extraction of national identity, and this royal order came to do justice to these women; In order for women to be able to provide services and complete their procedures, in the interest of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to lift any harm suffered by women.

Alimony fund

The alimony fund is linked to the Minister of Justice, as it will have a legal personality and an independent budget, as well as its headquarters in the Ministry of Justice. A judicial order is issued and his claim for it is still pending before the court, in accordance with the procedures specified by the regulations.

According to the Cabinet’s decision, the Fund will have a Board of Directors headed by the Minister of Justice and the membership of each of representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Finance, Labor and Social Development, and three members from the private sector who have an interest in the Fund’s field of work, to be nominated by the Chairman of the Council and appointed by a decision of the Council of Ministers.

Divorced women who have been issued judicial rulings that have not been implemented “without an excuse of insolvency” will receive alimony from the fund, as well as those for whom judicial orders have been issued and their claim for it is still pending before the courts. It shall be recovered from the sums due to them under the alimony ruling.

Regulating the marriage of minors

According to the decision issued by the Council of Ministers, the marriage of minors will be controlled and permission to marry those who are 17 years of age or younger will be restricted to the competent court, and that the request for marriage should be submitted by the girl or her legal guardian in marriage, or her mother.

Legal protection from lawyers

Pro-women decisions also included the protection of graduates of the law department, as there are lawyers who worked to exploit women’s need for training to be able to practice law, as the Ministry of Justice approved the lawyer’s diploma, which lasts three years and ends with granting the trainee a license to practice law, given that the programs offered by some lawyers It is not linked to a scientific methodology or professional training, and it wastes money and time for female trainee lawyers and assigns them to perform tasks unrelated to the profession.

Municipal councils

During the reign of King Salman bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia entered a historic phase in its political life, as Saudi women began to register their names as candidates in the municipal council elections. Indeed, a number of female candidates managed to win the municipal council elections that were held and in which women participated as both voters and candidates for the first time.
