Residents of neighborhoods in Obhur, Jeddah Governorate, suffer from the deterioration of road services and water pools that increased after the rains. Among the affected neighborhoods are Al-Sheraa, Al-Sawari, Al-Firdaws, Al-Yaqoot, Al-Amwaj, and Al-Lullu’, as their pain multiplied after the recent rains, and the asphalt layer disappeared in many internal and main roads, such as Prince Abdul Majeed Street. Which became a trap for vehicles and pedestrians, after it was filled with potholes and dirt bumps, while the asphalt layer completely disappeared.
Abdul Rahman Al-Ghamdi (a resident of Al-Sawari neighborhood) was surprised by the slow movement to address the suffering: “As you can see, water lakes have spread in every corner of the neighborhood, and the houses have become a haven for mosquitoes and insects, and you can hardly walk in the gardens or sit in the neighborhood.” And Muhammad Al-Mutairi confirms that the residents of the neighborhood submitted several reports to the Jeddah Municipality, and the situation remains as it is, and the people of 5 neighborhoods live among the water swamps and swarms of mosquitoes and the suffering of the main roads that were destroyed by the water pools.
Wassim Al-Zahrani points out that the neighborhoods of Obhur are modern and witnessing a wide urban development, but the municipal services do not keep pace with them. There are lakes and swamps, and main roads such as Prince Abdul Majeed Street have become a destroyed dirt full of potholes.
He added, "We own our homes at high prices, being in the north of the province and close to the sea. Unfortunately, it turned out that it needs a lot of effort, as we are facing streets that cracked after the rains."
It is noteworthy that the Municipality of Jeddah indicated that it had sprayed water gathering places within 16 sub-municipalities, after the rainy situation in the city of Jeddah, with the aim of reaching an environmental sanitation level to reduce pests threatening public health.
She explained that the pest control efforts are continuing around the clock according to a plan that covers all neighborhoods of the city of Jeddah, and 512 workers and employees, and 430 equipment and machinery are participating in the implementation of the plan, as the work of the field teams was divided into 3 sectors, including (the northern sector, the central sector, and the southern sector). .
And she indicated that the spraying work takes place during the morning and evening periods, using pesticides to control public health pests, between high-pressure spraying, mist, and fog, through field workers and home control teams, which were distributed to the various targeted sites, and teams were allocated to treat the water pools. Within the wilderness and white lands.
