French Nantes coach Antoine Kombouare justified his decision to exclude Algerian player Gwen Hagam from participating in the Reims match, yesterday (Sunday), in the 29th round of the French League.

The former Al-Hilal club coach said in the press conference after the match, which ended with his team losing by three: "Nant includes 6 Muslim players, and Gwen is the only one who insists on fasting on the day of the match."

The French coach added, "There is no need to stir up controversy. I will not punish anyone. I want to rely on a 100% ready player, as the team is playing difficult matches at such a critical stage."

Kombouare revealed, "This is my system over the course of my coaching career for 20 years. It is forbidden to fast on match day."

And he concluded his remarks, "As for whoever decides to fast, I will not include him in the team list."
