Meredith Jenkins passed away – death: Meredith Jenkins, of Auburn, California, Fresno State’s Deputy Director of Athletics since August 13, 2018, passed away unexpectedly after battling cancer. She died leaving behind her beloved family, colleagues, and friends.
Meredith served as the Tigers’ Executive Associate Athletics Director and a Senior Woman Administrator at Auburn University California. She also served as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, where she led the strategic planning and management efforts of the department, which included the oversight of a $140 million dollar budget. She also chaired the Sports Administrator Committee, which developed best practices and procedures at Auburn. She also served on the NCAA Soccer Committee including two terms as chair from 2011 to 2012, several SEC committees including the Executive Committee, and was the recipient of the Auburn University Women of Distinction Award in 2010. She served as Fresno State’s Deputy Director of Athletics from August 13, 2018., until her passing.
Ryne Stefankiewicz shared a post on Facebook saying Jenkins was one of his favorites during his time at Auburn which he look up to. He also said Jenkins had an impact on him during his two years at Auburn University, and he also made Auburn a better place for him and his fellow graduate assistants. “One of my favorite people from my time at Auburn passed away this morning. Meredith Jenkins had a huge impact on me in my 2 years at Auburn. I looked up to her and enjoyed all the time we got to spend together in the press box during games. MJ made Auburn a better place for me, all of my fellow graduate assistants, and everyone else she encountered on the Plains. A great soul gone too soon. Rest In Peace, Meredith. War Eagle”
Jenkin’s obituary will be announced by the family.
