Lt. Alting was a 25 year veteran of the Division and was known for his infectious smile, great sense of humor and love of police work. Probably the most popular APD officer, his story telling ability created thousands of smiles over the years. RIP. Our dear friend Garry Alting! A giant personality and a smile that will never be replaced! GARRY with TWO R’s….He always said the second one was for RESPECT! He hated frogs. LOVED Sherry Alting and being a police officer! Always had a special story to share, that would usually end in belly laughs! We were THE PIRATES of MAGARITAVILLE! He was always up for a boat parade, a shindig at a winery, a clambake, or party of any kind! Oh the videos I have of his smooth dance moves! Pretty sure he is the life of the party in heaven! He CAN NOT BE REPLACED! The void will last on and on, but remembering his laughter and the way he was devoted to his department, community, and friends will ease the pain. He LOVED Sherry Alting with all his heart! Sher Bear and Garr Bear! I love you Miss Sherry and my heart breaks for your loss. MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT. Rest easy Lt. Garry Alting!
