DEP.

I am devastated to hear that my friend Gilberto Baraona has passed away. Gilberto was one of the kindest people with a great sense of humour and open arms to let others be part of his life and work. His drive and guts to develop his vision motivated so many to be better. Los Pirineos was my last farm visit in El Salvador this March and I remember Gilbertos excitement to show me his latest projects. I will never forget you my friend. Rest in Peace
We have lost a dear friend and ambassador to COE. Gilberto Baraona’s support and contribution as a craft coffee producer has forever changed the way we see specialty coffee in El Salvador. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

We are both still shocked and saddened by the news from this morning when we were informed that our dear friend Gilberto Baraona has just passed away. A really sobering moment as it was only 3 months ago when we stayed over at your farm house, joking about how crazy the pandemic world was, how fast El Salvador has closed its borders just hours after we passed through while watching 80s trashy MVs. It was also the last farm that we visited this year before you drove us back into the city. You have been a great friend and partner, supporting us with your amazing coffees since day 1. You have never once doubted us even though we started so small and has always gave us good advice and shared your incredible passion for producing better coffees, which we have been so privileged to share with the fortunate ones in this part of the world. Your kindness, humour and sincerity to open your life to 2 strangers in us over the years have left an incredible footprint behind. We will forever remember our goodbye hugs as you dropped us outside our hostel 3 months back. You will be deeply missed. Big hugs to Gaby, Diego and Fabiola. Your legacy and Los Pirineos will forever live on.May you rest in peace.
Today we got the sad news that Gilberto Baraona, owner of Los Pirineos in El Salvador, has passed away with COVID. We have been proud to work with him for the last 4 years and we are getting a fresh crop from the farm very soon. Gilberto was an innovative leader in coffee globally. He constantly pushed the boundaries of what was possible with coffee, with quality at the forefront. He will be missed by us and everyone who knew him in the coffee community, and beyond. We are sending our love to his family
Hoy, la caficultura nacional pesa un poco menos. Descanse en paz, Don Gilberto Baraona, magistral productor de café y buen amigo. En nuestras memorias quedan recuerdos suyos, y en nuestros paladares, sus obras maestras.

It is with great sadness to learn that our very dear friend and coffee producer Gilberto Baraona has just passed away. We are incredibly shocked and devastated from the news as it only seemed like yesterday when we were spending time together at his farm – Los Pirineos. We are eternally grateful to this amazing man, husband and father, who has shared with us so much over the years.Gilberto has supported us and believed in us since almost the beginning of Nylon. He has been a treasured partner and we will always remember this man for his energy, vision, confidence and generosity. He takes care of us when we are in El Salvador, probably a 2nd home to us in Central America. We respect him not only because of what he does in specialty coffee but his no-nonsense approach to getting things done. His love for music and art and his sometimes brash sense of humour, some things we have gotten to know about him over the years. He has been a great role model to coffee producers all around the world for his visionary techniques and processing and his sudden loss will be greatly felt by everyone of us around the world.
Our deepest condolences to his family, Gabriela, Fabiola and Diego.
To all friends in El Salvador, please stay safe and take care.
Rest in peace Gilberto, our dear friend, you will deeply missed
