Giving love through phone calls.
Human communication is indispensable to living. We would die if we lacked any form of communication with our fellow humans. The ancient understood the importance of communication hence they said, “no man is an island”
In the 13th century,a king tried an experiment where he asked nurses to take care of babies in their bed but never to touch or communicate them……the result,all the babies died within a few months.
Communication is the lifeblood of relationships whether at the family,spouse,friends,neighbour or colleague level,we must all communicate else we die of loneliness.
In the past it was easy for people to communicate with each other but our today’s world is different, different with the following factors.
First,in this modern times,there are so much distraction from our environment,social media,television,music, games and many more. These stuff are not bad in themselves rather its the way we use them that makes them detrimental to our well-being.
Secondly, in this modern time, many now seek to build career,earn more money,achieve more and become more. This position is very different from the past where it was only the father that went out to earn a living and fend for the pack,today everybody want to “earn his living” even a 19 years old programmer want to create a super app before his 20th birthday,where does this leave us,this achieving more has isolates us more from each other. In the past, husbands brought their laptops home to continue work,today women are also in the workforce and the quote “no time” is the norm even in bed.
Wife’s don’t have time for husband or children,some countries are even experiencing generational gap because birth rate has reduced in recent years.
This is where loving through phone calls becomes important. For some of us,we dont call and we don’t return missed calls,this may seem an innocent gesture to many but in truth this destroys the fabric of socialisation and man being a social being,this is not a good way to live.
If you don’t pick calls due to tight schedule then find time to return call,this means a lot to your caller in fact it may be all has as a source of joy. For someone to pick up his phone and call you then you mean alot to that person even if you guys have an ugly relationship, for some that’s their only hope and when you don’t pick,the pain can be unbearable.
Be nice to a greater extent,pick the calls and chat a few seconds then tell the person to call back later(check your schedule and fix a time when you will be free).
For those friends whom you may be having misunderstanding with or you generally do not want them calling,people such as someone seeking a romantic which you are not willing to give, an old friend who you don’t want in your life again,for these group,find a way to tell them to call you only within a particular time window,even if its once a week. This will save them the heart ache of multiple calls without response.
