Gordon Masten Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Gordon Masten.
Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.
This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.
The Quebec Drama Federation is saddened to hear of Gordon Masten’s passing – an active member, a valued teacher, an esteemed performer, and a golden-hearted soul.
We send our heartfelt love and condolences to his family, friends, and to the Quebec English Theatre Community.
All of us in the ACTRA Montreal family were deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Gordon Masten.
Gordon was a wonderful performer, an esteemed teacher and treasured member of ACTRA. We encourage you to read the countless messages of love and heartfelt gratitude being posted online by the many friends, students, and colleagues who were lucky enough to know Gordon.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Gordon Masten, a dear old friend and one of Canada’s wonderful and great Actors. I first met Gord, through my dear brother Riley Tench at Camp Pine Crest. Gord ran the Drama Program there and when he found out I wanted to be an Actor, he took me under his wing. We did Wizard of Oz together. He was the Lion and I the TinMan.. He got me my first professional gig at Peterborough Summer Theatre after my family moved to the area in the late 70’s. He introduced me to Michael Hogan, Sue Hogan and a host of other great Actors and Theatre People. He was a constant inspiration and a mentor to me and after I moved to Toronto, let me know about classes and contacts, told me about Agents and Equity and introduced me to the heady scene of Toronto in the late 70’s, Factory Theatre Lab and TWP. He was a constant support in my early years and we recently reconnected here on FB a couple months back. His mercurial wit and comedy had me on the floor so many times. He taught me about Shakespeare and Stratford, Character Acting , the Absurdists and Pinter, Sam Shepard, Clown and the Grand Guignol. He never stopped working till the end, his death was a surprise and a shock. He was well known for his performances at the Centaur in Montreal, he played many great roles in Film and TV, Canadian, American and British, Theatre and Opera, was a phenomenal Voice Actor, Cartoon Voice, and Singer, a Legend, an Icon, a bon vivant, an inspiration to those who knew him, a gentle, kind, compassionate, loving, hilarious, whacky wonderful man and I will miss him very much. He was very happy in Montreal, living in Lacolle, with his loving wife of many years Jude-Ann, their kids and step kids and his little grand daughter nicknamed “L’il Red.” He taught me so much and also how to deal with things when things got tough. I smile, even in spite of my sadness. Here’s to you Big Red and in the words of the Bard whom you loved, “May Flights of Angels guide you to your rest Sweet Prince…” Love you Big Red! Thank you! …. There is an Obituary, a service will be held in Lacolle, Quebec on August 9th.. RIP Gordie. Too soon, much too soon
