Bernie Drummond Death – Cause of Death – A renowned ZX Spectrum artist Bernie Drummond sadly and unexpectedly died. Drummond created the graphics for some of the British home micro’s greatest games, including the absolutely fantastic Head Over Heels, Matchday II, and Batman.

Bernie was an amazing personality that has made our childhood beautiful and wonderful with his exceptional graphics. He has also positively affected the gaming world with his work. He will be deeply missed by the world. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family at this sad time.

Tributes to the legends have continued to pour in:

Merman said; “That’s a real shame. Had the pleasure of interviewing Jon Ritman a couple of times and he was so full of praise for Bernie’s graphics. The oft-told story was of how Jon sat him down with the graphic editor, Bernie started plotting random pixels and out emerged an eyeball monster that appeared in Batman. There is is so much character in Head over Heels, and the distinctive background styles of the various planets/bases are so atmospheric”

ZX Geoff Owen said; “Although I was never very good at HOH (I had to use a walk-through to even get Head and Heels to meet), it led me to seek out his amazing Batman game. Credit to Bernie Drummond too, I think.”

Jaz Rignall said; “Very sad to hear via @RunningWardy that legendary ZX Spectrum artist Bernie Drummond has passed away. He created the graphics for some of the British home micro’s greatest games, including the absolutely fantastic Head Over Heels, Matchday II, and Batman.”
