In addition to his distinguished academic and political career, members of our association remember prof. Banac for his highly engaging and energetic lecture “Quo Vadis, Croatia” for AMCA Toronto at the Faculty Club of U if T in 2002. May he rest in peace.
Saddened by the passing of Ivo Banac. He was a great professor and I learned a lot from him. His political & academic views in recent years were a big disappointment, but I will keep his scholarship & support to many researchers, like myself, in mind. RIP.

Sad to hear about the passing of Yale emeritus Ivo Banac. His great study ‘The National Question in Yugoslavia’ inspired awe in me when I first read it as a student and it still does today. A masterful historian of Southeastern Europe. RIP.

The world lost a great historian and liberal forces in the Balkans lost a true advocate. It was an honor of a lifetime to be his student and to have him as my mentor. Rest in peace, Professor Banac.

Just saw the tragic news that the Historian Ivo Banac has passed away. He was my Father’s doctoral advisor and since then a good family friend. I only ever heard good things about the man, and he was only ever good to my dad and my family. Rest in peace.
