Jacinta McCaskey Obituary: UPDATE!!!
Two suspects have been charged in a supposed gang-related shooting in Alabama’s Wilcox County that killed a 46-year-old woman and critically injured her husband. The shooting happened July 1 and authorities have previously said the shooters were aiming for someone else in the vehicle, who was not injured. Cedric Maurice Tolar Jr., 19, of Camden, and Emanuel Justin Ja ‘Vo Hardley, 25, are charged with capital murder and four counts of attempted murder. Tolar was arrested July 14, and Hardley was arrested July 16, according to court records.
They are charged in the slaying of Jacinta McCaskey. McCaskey’s husband was wounded but survived. The shooting happened about 5:45 p.m. that Thursday while the couple was driving on Bridgeport Road and Alabama 10, which is known as the Camden Bypass, said Camden Police Chief Tyrone Dale. Jacinta McCaskey was pronounced dead on the scene. Her husband was taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. The case is being investigated by the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office, the Fourth Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force and ALEA State Bureau of Investigation.
According to charging documents, the couple was in a 2019 blue Dodge Charger with their son and two other males traveling east on Alabama Highway 10. At about 5:50 p.m., a tan or gold colored Chevrolet Tahoe pulled up alongside the Charger and open fire into the vehicle. The Charger left the roadway after the shots were fired, struck a stop sign, struck another vehicle and eventually came to a stop. Jamichael McCaskey Sr. was struck in the shoulder, and Jacinta McCaskey was shot in the left side of her face. Witnesses told authorities at least one of the alleged shooters was armed with a rifle with a scope. The suspects were wearing “Covid masks.” Court dates for Tolar and Hardley have not yet been announced.
