Humanitarian work is not limited to humans, but even to animals. Passion and love for doing good may lead many young men and women to charity for stray and stray animals, and this is what Sarah Abdel-Fattah did when she turned one of the rooms of her house into a small clinic for the treatment of injured animals. Sarah says, “I started Our story with pets since childhood. I am the eldest of my seven brothers, and the youngest is in the sixth grade of primary school. We used to see my father and mother help the pets in our neighborhood, bring them home and help them receive treatment. Once my father owned a large house, he allocated a part of the house to a room equipped for treatment and care. That thing developed in me and my siblings a sympathy for animals.”
The matter went beyond Sarah’s limits, so a new member joined, who is the veterinarian whom Sarah frequents to treat her stray cats. When the doctor learned that what they were doing was not for trading, but as charity for God’s sake, he decided that the treatment would be for a symbolic amount and he would share with them the charitable project, so that Sarah and her siblings would receive many blessings. cases.
Sarah refused to transfer her humanitarian work to social networking sites for fear of an increase in the volume of requests. On that point, she says, “The tasks will increase, and we are busy, and we will not be able to meet the needs of everyone who writes to us, so we decided to keep the project among relatives and neighbors, and we were not able to fulfill all requests. A large number of cats come to us.”
Bashayer Al-Samdani, another girl, created a voluntary account to care for animals in need of care, and she wanted the project to achieve a humanitarian step in a society that does not care about animals. Bashayer tells about the experience, saying: “The idea started when we found accounts for four volunteer teams that care for pets in Riyadh and Dammam, and there are no similar ones in Jeddah. My friend and I decided to create a volunteer account to take care of pets, and by coincidence we also found an official account on Twitter that adopts pets. Especially domestic cats whose owners throw them in the street, and after treatment, they offer them to anyone who wants to adopt, so we dealt with him voluntarily, and because of his constant preoccupation, we thought to reduce the pressure on him a little by creating a special “group” for me and my girlfriend, and indeed a “group” was created and we have a home shelter for them Other volunteers help us, they bring cats from the street and we transfer them to the clinic for treatment and offer them for adoption.
Bashayer's team has now reached six volunteers, started three years ago, and found many donors who contribute to the treatment of cats.
