My condolences, I only met John a couple of times and his generosity and gentleness both in person & online were apparent. Tech is good and I very much appreciated his patience at @VCSSCamp in Barnsley.

When I first started tinkering with social media, and experiments crossing between digital & physical worlds, one of the first kindred spirits I talked to was @johnpopham – he was a tireless campaigner and changemaker, and now he’s left us way too soon, and he’ll be hugely missed

*Really* sad news to hear yday the mighty @johnpopham passed away. Our paths crossed quite a few times the last 10 years, after meeting here. John was a huge believer in the power of community, openness, tech as an accessible enabler and can do. Today maybe be a little more John

Really devastating news but I hope you can take some comfort from the genuine inspiration John gave others. He’s the biggest comment contributor to my blog (a blog that he encouraged me to start) and was always supportive even when we disagreed. My thoughts are with you all

We are heartbroken to announce that John, the most loving husband, dad and granddad, passed away yesterday. He passed peacefully in his sleep with family by his side. We want to thank you all for the positivity you showed him as it gave him great strength in his final weeks

Absolutely heartbreaking. @johnpopham and I met over 30 years ago when setting up a refuge. He was kind and generous then and never really changed from that. His love of connecting isolated communities thru etc and social media was unbeatable.
Rest in peace John. Love to all
