Car locks alienated visitors to the historic area of Taif from shopping, and a number of them complained about the continuation of what they called “these practices” by one of the parking companies, contrary to what the Secretary of the Eastern Region stated two weeks ago that withdrawals and locks are prohibited.

Talal Al-Otaibi said that he had obtained a regular parking ticket, and when he returned from the shopping trip, he was surprised to put the lock on his vehicle, including a message from the company that if the lock was unlocked, he would be fined 1265 riyals, which forced him to wait for the company’s employees, and he was fined 230 riyals, claiming that he had an old violation of 100 riyals were not paid, and as a result of his failure to pay, the fine was doubled to 130. Al-Otaibi demanded the Taif Municipality to follow the same procedures followed by the Eastern Municipality.

For his part, Abdullah Al-Zahrani indicates that he is now avoiding going to the historical area due to the large number of complaints against the company and its practices for fear of falling under the penalty of withdrawal or closure, and Mutlaq Al-Otaibi and Abdulaziz Al-Sufiani are calling for electronic fines to be activated in a civilized manner.

It is noteworthy that the Municipality of the Eastern Region, two weeks ago, referred 14 employees of a parking management company to the security authorities, after monitoring a number of them while placing locks on violating vehicles in the parking lots.

Okaz tried to communicate with the Municipality of Taif about two weeks ago to find out ways to improve the company's performance, and the Municipality promised to return to the contract and find out what it includes in terms of withdrawals and locks, or be content with electronic fines for violators. While the company official in Taif remained silent despite receiving the inquiry.
