Today we mourn the loss of Keri Kaa, one of the faces of our Kia kōrero | Let’s talk advance care planning campaign, who passed away peacefully in Te Puia Springs on 26 August.
Keri was a teacher of te reo Māori and an advocate of Māori arts and culture, and generously shared her story with us for our campaign.
Keri lived her dream of spending her final years in her tribal homelands being cared for ‘by the people from home’. Moe mai ra, moe mai, moe mai ra e Keri.

Ngāti Porou is mourning the passing of Dr Keri Kaa. An award-winning writer, prolific poet, teacher, musician, and creative powerhouse who was loved and admired by many, she passed away at 78 years of age.
