Tributes To Kevin Bulloch

Below are some of the statements shared across social media users’ timelines on the death of Bulloch.

“I am devastated to advise the passing of Kevin Bulloch (44). Kevin took ill last week and passed away a couple of days later.
To borrow Danny Roarty’s words – “losing one of our own only serves to remind us of the strong bond we have, irrespective of whatever Porty generation you see yourself as part of”. The Rugby Community is small – the Portobello Rugby Community is tight! Tight enough to embrace Susan, Kyle and Orla at this time of terrible grief.
Kevin played through all the stages of rugby at the Club, School and Club again in a successful Colts side, many of whom graduated into the Senior XV on the wing – top try scorer on more than one occasion and Captain for two seasons in 2002/03 and 2003/04. If there were a tour, he was a tourist; if there were a fund to be raised he was a fundraiser; something to be promoted, he was the promoter; involved in so much including starting off “Old Boys Days”. As a Player; Captain; Coach; Fundraiser; Cheerleader, his contribution to our Club over the course of more than 30 years has been all encompassing and should never be understated. Never short of an opinion and always Portobello Rugby at heart. Kevin’s great disappointment of losing a Shield final to Aberdeen University at Murrayfield became great joy in 2017 when we overcame Blairgowrie to bring the Bowl home to Duddingston.
A special occasion for Kevin which he thoroughly enjoyed came was the invitation to pull on a shirt to represent Co-optimist RFC (the Co-ops) in a match against East Lothian at North Berwick in honour of the late Johnny Mitchell who had suffered a catastrophic injury playing rugby. The Co-ops are Scotlands leading Invitation only side with many International players having represented them, including such as Arthur Smith, Scott and Gavin Hastings, Andy Irvine, Sean Lineen. Kevin may not have reached the levels they did, but that day he most certainly did!
We grieve with Susan, Kyle and Orla – they know they have the best wishes and support of everyone associated with Portobello Rugby Club as well as so many others.
Until we meet again, bag. #RIP”
