A devastating loss for our pubic personnel family. Sgt. Ernie Quintero, a 25-year veteran, and Detention Officer Kevin Fletcher, a 15-year-veteran, passed away yesterday. Officer Fletcher’s cause of death is unknown at this time. According to family members, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Quintero had coronavirus.
A tragic reminder to all — please take care of yourself, not only because it benefits your health but also because it benefits the health of others.
Rest in peace. Thank you for your service. Our heart goes out to their family.
Two longtime deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office died Monday, the agency announced.
Cause of the deaths for Sgt. Ernie Quintero and Detention Officer Kevin Fletcher was not released. But Benjamin Fisk, the head of the Maricopa County Law Enforcement Association, told KTAR News 92.3 FM both men tested positive for COVID-19 and had been hospitalized.
My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to my former MCSO workmates Sergeant Ernie Quintero and Detention Officer Kevin Fletcher and their families. I knew both of these great men. It is sad losing one person you know but two in one day is beyond tragic. Both succumbed to illness way before their time.
There is a numbness that overcomes you no matter how hardened you become even after years in law enforcement when the life of someone is snatched away from them. May they Rest In Peace.
