Long time friend, media comrade, voice of Marshalltown Bobcat sports and fellow Babe Ruth volunteer Lance Renaud passed away yesterday. I played baseball against teams he coached and took over as a Babe Ruth commissioner when he left the program. RIP my friend. You will be missed

Saddened to hear that Lance Renaud, the man I had the pleasure to follow up when it came to broadcasting MCC athletics, passed away this morning. I never got to meet Lance, but I know what he meant to the Marshalltown community and MCC fans. My thoughts go out to his family.

I am saddened by the news of Lance Renaud passing away. I met and worked with Lance doing IGHSAU softball, volleyball, and basketball state tournament games. Lance and I spent many nights/days talking about broadcasting and life. Lance was always active on my Facebook commenting on the things I was doing. I can’t express how much Wisdom he passed onto me. Lance was a friend and mentor. The first time I met Lance, I was doing pxp for a state basketball quarterfinal, and he was assigned to do my color. I could tell he wasn’t too excited to just do color – especially with a “kid” doing the pxp – Lance just loved what he did. I was really nervous for my first game on the IGHSAU Digital Network. 10 seconds before we went on, I looked at him and said, “wait, what was your name.” He said Lance, Lance Renaud, like the City in Nevada. Afterwards we had a conversation about knowing who you’re broadcasting with before the broadcast lol. RIP, Lance!

My deepest condolences to his wife, Leslie, and family.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lance Renaud. Lance was a long-time radio voice for the Bobcats and served as the News & Sports Director for KFJB & KIX 101.1. He called many great Bobcat memories over the years.

We are still working on getting more details about the death, as family statement on the death is yet to be released.
