So sad to hear about the loss of Lauren Berlant. Their work fundamentally changed how I think & the world has never been the same. It is bigger, richer, more textured – they helped me inhabit these ruins more gracefully.

I’d also be remiss not to mention that so much of the thinking behind my research and teaching was influenced by Lauren Berlant, who we lost today far too soon.

sad to hear about lauren berlant but the stream of tributes is at least partially comforting. as a fellow queer philadelphian, currently trying to care for my mom, i’m letting these words wash over me as i sit alone in a dr’s office waiting room in philly

I can’t believe Lauren Berlant passed…Their work is life changing. One the scholars I wish I could have met IRL, though we did exchange some emails at one point. Really sad to hear of their passing…

So saddened to hear about the passing of Lauren Berlant. The course I took with them at UChicago taught me so much about gender and sex theories that I often felt dizzy leaving class, unable to process quickly enough the brilliance I had just heard. May they rest in peace.
