Balmain Tigers are saddened to hear of the passing of Balmain Tiger No 505, Hall of Fame Member Laurie Fagan.

A skilful halfback and local junior, Fagan played 98 first grade games from 1959-1966, scoring 19 tries and kicking 22 goals. He was also a member of the Tigers 1965 Reserve Grade premiership team and represented NSW (NSW Blue No 560) in 1962, the same year he won the Sydney Morning Herald Player of the Year award.

He departed the Tigers to move to the new Penrith Panthers club in 1967 as a foundation player, where he finished his career in 1970. He later coached the Ryde Eastwood Hawks to a Second Division title in 1972.

In our Centenary Year of 2008, Laurie was inducted into the Balmain Tigers Hall of Fame.

Our thoughts at this time are with Laurie’s wife Dot, son David and family.
