Accepting criticism is a mark of leadership.
Far back in 2003,after a vacation, i went back to school, that day in the evening we wanted to cook something to eat as a way of celebrating our come back since up to 5 people unknowingly came back the same day. When I brought out my long note to tear a page so I could make the list of things to buy, i just placed my ruler on the note and tore out the page roughly though it came out accurate, then my roommate Uche immediately asked me if I was Stella tearing paper like that.
The question hit me like a bullet, ?why, I had never thought that the way I tore papers from books was bad, his question of “do you still tear paper like that” implied that I was tearing it like that for long and have not changed though the change will be necessary.
I contemplated that quest for more than a week and it lead to my changing how I tear paper, i started doing it gently and this has saved me some embarrassment later in life.
Life is an unending school where our rudimentary lesson is to learn about yourself so we can better ourself. Those who fail to learn properly suffer most, there have been cases where I refused to learn some lessons about myself and I suffered deeply for it. Learning starts in learning about our dark side and changing that dark to light.
Be open to criticism and learn more about yourself. So as to improve.
