The Madinah-Al-Ula road has recently become a barrier of fear for many road users, especially since most of the city's residents and visitors take the road that shortens the distance to the city of Al-Ula by 100 km. However, the road is still a single track, which poses dangers to passers-by and road partners, especially from bulk camels.
“Okaz” surveyed the opinions of road users, and Muhammad Al-Salihi says that the Madinah-Al-Ula road passes through many villages and abandonment, such as the village of Al-Malelih, Shagwa and Al-Buwair, as well as Al-Ais Governorate, but it has become a source of concern after the high rate of accidents and the large number of loose camels on the road, which represents a major artery for those wishing to travel. To Al-Ula, which has become one of the most important heritage tourist sites in the Kingdom, which necessitates working on a double road leading to it, pointing out that there is another way for those wishing to travel to Al-Ula, but many prefer to travel through Medina – Shagwa – Al-Ula; Because it shortens the distance by about 100 km.
For his part, Abd al-Rahman al-Boushi confirms that the road needs to be duplicated, especially as it serves many villages, explaining that there is another problem represented in the sudden change in speeds of the road from 110 km to 60 km, which poses a danger to drivers and passengers. He added that many visitors and tourists to Al-Ula use the road, expressing his hope that the Ministry of Transport will work to double the road.
