I put together this Maxpedition gearslinger review to focus on the features of this product line and the overall function and usability of that you will find in these packs. Maxpedition is a company that is constantly setting the bar when it comes to the engineering and design that goes into all of their packs. If you are new to the name it will only take you handling one pack and you will be hooked like I was.
A Brief View Into The Materials And Construction
I won’t spend a lot of time on the materials because they are same throughout all packs and this is a maxpedition gearslinger review so I will mostly concentrate on the features that make a “gearslinger” a “gearslinger”. However there are a couple things that you should know.
Maxpedition products are made with military grade ballistic nylon that has a dupont and teflon coating for water resistance and ease of cleaning. They are heavily stitched at all of the stress points and extremely well built so that you will not have a pack failure in the field. All packs have heavy duty strength YKK zippers so you will never have any issues with zipper malfunctions. Overall their packs are made to take a beating , put up with the elements and keep on keeping on. You will see these packs used by law enforcement, military and private security contractors. The people that use Maxpedition are people whose life depends on their gear.
What Does A Geaslinger Have That A Backpack Doesn’t?
Although the difference between a backpack and Maxpedition Gearslinger may not look like much at first glance, there are some striking differences in design and overall functionality.
Difference 1
The first big difference is the way that this series is intended to be carried. The single shoulder strap that connects from the top of the bag to the lower right side allows you to sling this pack on your back and snap it into place over your shoulder and across your chest. They fit very comfortably in the middle of your back and can be rotated to your chest so that you can get to the contents of your pack while literally on the run. It is great for hiking nice for traveling so that when you sit down you do not have to dismount.
Difference 2
The next difference is the design and the overall functionality of the pockets. Even top line backpacks have pockets with very little to no organization. This leaves the contents of your bag sloshing around when you do, and makes getting that one thing that you need out of your pack and exercise in unpacking and repacking.
The Maxpedition Gearslinger is organized with internal elastic straps, dividers, pockets and loop fields in all of their pockets. The pockets are designed to be accessed both from the side while the bag is on your chest and the top if you decide to dismount to access the bag.
In my opinion the Maxpedition line of packs are far superior than your normal everyday backpack. Not only do they last forever they are extremely technical and designed with the survivalist in mind.
