The South American Football Confederation celebrated at its headquarters in Paraguay the captain of the Argentine national team, Lionel Messi, who won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, by placing a statue honoring him in the CONMEBOL museum, along with the late football legends Maradona and Pele.

After thanking everyone, Messi said he had managed to achieve everything in football. He added, "The road was very long and full of many decisions and defeats, but I was always looking forward to the future and wanted to win."

Messi led Argentina to the World Cup title for the third time in its history and the first after waiting 36 years in Qatar last December.
