Not a real person, agreed. But based on a real person named Nancy Green who did indeed go from slavery to great success in her life. It is the basis of Nancy Green that is now considered inappropriate because of the early association with slavery.

Canceling a successful black woman. Nancy Green aka Aunt Jemima was born into slavery. She was a magnificent cook. When she was ‘freed’ she rolled her talent that into a cooking brand that GM bought/used her likeness. She died in 1923 as one of America’s first black millionaires
