A recent study revealed the effect of an afternoon nap on a person's memory and mind, as well as his mood and cognitive state. According to the statement, the study concluded that a short afternoon nap can enhance memory, mood and alertness for at least four hours.

The study says: All naps ranging from 10 to 60 minutes have clear benefits.

The study, conducted by the National University of Singapore, found that a 30-minute nap was "best" at boosting mood, memory and alertness up to four hours after waking up.

Dr Ruth Leong, from the National University of Singapore, said: “Mood, subjective sleepiness and cognitive performance were measured at intervals of 5, 30, 60 and 240 minutes (4 hours) after waking in order to compare the sustainability of the relevant benefits of napping. 10 to 60 minutes has significant benefits, suggesting that even a short 10 minutes can be a pick-me-up."
