An enlightened citizenry is indispensable to the proper functioning of a country. Governance is not an easy task when a greater percentage of the citizens are ignorant.
Ignorant of their civic responsibility,
Ignorant of the true nature of their challenges,
Ignorant of the remote causes of the challenges,
Ignorant of how they can step on the path of progress,
Ignorant of the cost of leadership growth and most importantly,
Ignorant of what they can do to repair the nation, how to go about repairing the nation or lack the willpower to.
One of the greatest block stopping citizens from having knowledge of what to do is their selfishness.
? How do i mean.
When a nation is having seat-backs that prevent growth, People start to think only of themselves and believe that they should only look for how to survive and forget about every other person. This is the poison that degenerates the society because when people begin to think this way,they worsen their situation and in less than no time, they turn the whole place into a jungle of dog eat dog, winner gets it all, even if he wins by crook or his success is written in the signature of people blood.
The younger generation which usually is more intelligent than the older generation takes up this mental attitude and adds o it innovative ways to be the most rugged dog and to win by all means.
Rather than growth, moral,intellectual and social decadence increases and makes it more difficult for people to want to step on the path of growth.
The solution to this ugly situation is a difficult one I cannot pretend to know the way out but I believe that if each Nigerian takes it upon themselves to improve their lives according to enlightenment principles,then we will step on the path of growth
