Gary Hughes Death – Cause of Death – Northern Ireland football fan Gary Hughes has suddenly passed away at the age of 58. He sadly died before Northern Ireland game’s against Italy which is scheduled to take place on Monday, 22nd of November 2021. News outlets have confirmed that Hughes had been in the company of one of his son’s in a bar on the Lisburn Road prior to the World Cup qualifier at Windsor Park when he collapsed.
Hughes was a sales manager and father of two from Maysfields in Lisburn. He was a passionate and generous Northern Ireland fan who travelled far and wide to follow the team. Gary was also a campaign card holder and hugely popular member of the Green and White Army. He will be greatly missed by everyone. We extend our deepest condolences.

The Amalgamation of Official Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs said on Twitter: “Sadly, we were made aware of the sudden passing of a fellow supporter on Monday night. We extend our own sympathies to the Hughes family at their time of loss.”
Crewe United F.C. said in a tweet; Everyone at Crewe Park was saddened to hear of the sudden passing of our friend Gary Hughes. A great NI and Linfield supporter he was very generous to our club for many years. The world could do with more people like Gary. Deepest sympathy goes to his family at this sad time. 🙏
