Yesterday, the world celebrated the International Theater Day. It was an occasion for the world to show its cultural face at a time when the scars of crises filled the political, economic and military faces, as most cities of the world witnessed theatrical performances that consolidate the cultural traditions of the theatrical festival, which took this date as a global theatrical date since the opening of the Nations Theater in 1962. !
Today, the Kingdom participates in this celebration, with the theater occupying the place it deserves from the attention and care in light of the ambitious vision, and the emergence of the work of the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, which succeeded, during a short period of its establishment, in spreading life in the Saudi theater and building its bridges and linking it to the global stage. Participation in the International Theater Day is granted The Saudi theater artist feels his artistic identity and presents it to others as another cultural face that represents the Saudi civilization!
The commission’s celebration during the period from 27-29 March included holding a photographic exhibition called “The Arch of the Stage” that displays the most prominent Saudi theatrical works, and a Saudi theatrical show entitled “The Stranger and the Close”!
The theater arch gallery provides a wonderful experience. The idea of its inspiration is based on the term “proscenium”, which refers to the frame at the front of the stage that is located between the curtain and the audience. Wonders, this building is seen by the audience when entering the theater before the start of the show, so that this arch is a gateway to the world of theater and to go on an artistic visual journey to see the first signs and the first artistic and creative works presented by the Theater and Performing Arts Authority in the past years!
In short, the Saudi theater today has a stage and a curtain, and an audience looking forward to boundless creativity!
