Officials with the Kansas City Police are investigating an overnight shooting incident that left a vehicle passenger dead.
According to the department, officials responded at about 1:50 a.m. to 81st Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard following shots fired report. Arriving officers located a person suffering from life-threatening gunshot injuries. The unidentified person was pronounced dead at the scene by medical teams.
Preliminary investigations determined that a car arriving both on Blue Ridge near 87th Street fired shots into another vehicle, fatally striking the individual occupying the passenger seat of the car. The driver of the victim ‘drove to 81st Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard and requested medical help.
Detectives say the driver was not injured in the incident and is assisting with investigation. No further information was immediately made available.
