PlayStation officially announced that it will not participate in the upcoming E3 exhibition for the second year in a row, and justified in a statement through a spokesperson that the reason for the absence is a “difference in vision.” It was rumored on social media that there was a disagreement between PlayStation and the ESA Game Software Association, which is organizing the conference. However, PlayStation denied in its statement, saying, "We respect the association as an organization, but we do not feel that the direction and vision of the exhibition is in line with what we plan for this year."

The spokesman confirmed that the PlayStation will not be absent from the global scene, as he stated that they are working on a strategic plan for the exhibitions, stressing that it will participate in hundreds of them around the world. And its focus is on satisfying its fans to feel that they are part of the PlayStation family and giving them the opportunity to experience their favorite content.

The Game Software Association did not respond directly to the PlayStation announcement, but the official spokesperson merely commented that the E3 exhibition is a major and important event in the gaming industry in which developers showcase their games and technologies, and that the 2020 exhibition will contain new experiences and programs that will appeal to the attendees.
