Ralph Caplan Death – Dead: A great loss was made known to InsideEko. As friends and families of the deceased are mourning the passing of their loved and cherished Ralph Caplan.

Ralph Caplan was an essayist, professor, lecturer and consultant on design, he died  of heart failure on June 4 at his home in Upper West Side of Manhattan, he was 95 years.

Having heard about this great loss, the family of this individual is passing through pains, mourning the unexpected passing of their beloved.

This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.

Sad news in a rough week: the extraordinary pioneering design critic Ralph Caplan has died at the age of 95. Ralph was a humanist whose writing and teaching expanded the definition of design and the minds of those who practice it. Thank you, Ralph.

Good morning. We lost a great one yesterday. Ralph Caplan was a great design critic and beautiful human—the kind of spirit you never forget. Here’s an excerpt from By Design (1982), in which he explained why the greatest design of the 20th century was the protest.


Ralph Caplan was the first fellow critic to nominate me for an award and when he did I thought, That’s the award. Being *seen* by the best is the award. RIP to a critic who never stopped being open to new ideas (and who always wore a Marimekko shirt).
