Greetings, Facebook friends. I am very sad to hear that Dr. Ruben Pechero, a good friend and wonderful mission-minded physician and philanthropist, died this morning of COVID-19 in McAllen, Texas, where he lived. He was 86 years old. I just talked with his wife, Cristina, a little bit ago by phone to encourage her and had prayer with her and for the family.
The Pechero family has been a great blessing to God’s work in McAllen, Texas, especially through a Seventh-day Adventist elementary and academy that they have sponsored; in Argentina through evangelism and a medical school; and around the world. The photos below are of Dr. Pechero and his wife, Cristina, inaugurating an elementary school in Argentina in 2019.
Dr. Pechero was not feeling well in recent days but was at home. Yesterday he had trouble breathing and was taken to the hospital. Even though he was on oxygen, he died. Too many people are dying of COVID-19. Let’s pray for the families who are affected all over the world.
I am so sad. He, his wife, his son, and his entire family were such blessings and will continue to be blessings to God’s work. What a privilege to have such mission-focused lay members who are committed to the proclamation of the three angels’ messages so that Jesus can come. We will see Dr. Pechero when the Lord returns. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
