This departure was confirmed through social media posts made by Twitter users who pour out tributes, and condolences to the family of the deceased.
My heart is hurting today after finding out about the passing of Ryan Giglia. I was lucky to have been able to call him a supervisor, colleague, mentor and most importantly a friend. He was an amazing student advocate that always kept the students best interests in mind no matter what.
He helped me maneuver the professional world as young professional just starting my career. He also always found ways to challenge me to grow, sometimes in the moment whether I liked it or not. He engrained the terms “always be flexible” and “school spirit and pride” into my head.
I will miss our many conversations about good food, the Buffalo Bills, and how to make Brockport a better Brockport. I must say he even helped me to discover my adulthood, he always was willing to help me with explaining silly questions about loans, insurance and even the process for buying a car.
Even during my transition to RIT, he was the first person to wish me good luck on my first day of work and then he asked me how everything went after work that day. He was the type of friend that anyone could have only wished for.
There is no doubt that Brockport lost a beautiful soul today, but his impact will be carried on by the many students and professionals that worked by his side. My thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful family.
Let this be a reminder for all of us to thank our friends and family for the amazing memories and tell them how much they mean to you.

. He treated us like an adult to help us grow into one. I should’ve told him this while I could. Rest In Peace friend.

Ryan Giglia’s passing today has left me saddened, a brother to so many and to me, my “big” brother in my fraternity. I have so many memories of the good times we shared, especially our trip to Daytona by way of Charleston one year. We had a falling out, but like true brothers it was over just as it started and we sat on the roof of the house smoking a cigar and talking it out. I know your pain and suffering are over and you are in a better place. Rest easy “randy”, til we meet again.
