Matt Byrne Death – Cause Of Death: SA’s theatre director, producer, critic, and actor Matt Byrne has passed away on Monday 29th November 2021 at the age of 63, at Lyell McEwin Hospital from pneumonia after a 12 months battle with illness. His death was made known to the public through Matt Byrne Media Stage statement on the social page.
According the the publication by the Matt Byrne Media Stage says “To all the wonderful MBM supporters, it is with much sadness that we advise you of the passing of Matt this morning. Matt has been unwell for the past 12 months and lost his battle today. Matt’s contribution to the Adelaide theatre world can not be compared to any other. His casts and crews, supporters and loyal customers filled Matt’s heart. Thank you all for the support, kind words, post shares and patronage. Details of Matt’s memorial will be posted when more details are available. Because we knew you, we have been changed for good.”
He was a creative writer, producer and director. Matt Byrne was born and raised in Gawler in the year 1958. He began with the Northern Light Theatre Company as a performer at the Elizabeth’s Shedley Theatre in the year 1970s. He was given an Adelaide Theatre Guild’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the Curtain Call Awards in the year 2016.
