I met Shannon’s oldest daughter Larkyn in Vegas during a cheer competition ~3 years ago, “the big girls” were so amazing with Emerson and doing stunts in the middle of Freemont Street. 😳 My baby was in full extension for the first time and all of that years Platinum gals were so supportive and fun with the littles! This was the comp I saw the sport of cheer in a new light and Emerson’s eyes so lit up!
Shannon was every womans “fit mom bod” dream and clearly I was excited to make a new friend. Lord knows I’m lacking all frontal lobe filters and have never met a stranger! This was no different story🤣. I’m sure I probably told her I wanted her arms 🙂. For the few years that followed, seeing a familiar face, walking into the gym and briefly catching up, having other kids on different teams to cheer for (because I “sorta” know their mom, which of course makes me think I know them 😉 ) made competitions that much more fun! That’s what cheer feels like to me right now, watching your child do something they love and then all the kids you meet over the years, shine and sparkle with passion for a sport too. It feels good as a mom therefore it feels amazing to empathize with other moms over that too!
Last year… both Shannon’s girls were on the same team 🌹 and I loved watching them, because in my heart, Shannon was one of the first moms I met in the lobby, so duh, naturally I supported her kids (who likely don’t know me from a hole in the wall) 🤣 I don’t remember seeing her much last year, but I do remember the last time I saw her.
I lost a fellow “cheer mom” yesterday. WE lost a fellow momma bear and most importantly, Larkyn, Claire and Ronan lost their mom! My heart aches for these beautiful children who will forever be left with a missing piece. I 100% believe that long term grief counseling and therapy will be able to be funded with this GoFundMe for these 3 kids and maybe, just maybe…time (and therapy) can heal these wounds. If you can, the collective small efforts of many can really change a life!
