Sideloading Is Coming to iOS

 ·  1 min read

Since the launch of the App Store, Apple has maintained strict, total control over what software can be installed on an iPhone, taking a 30% cut. That era is ending.

The regulatory hammer
The European Union’s Digital Markets Act forced Apple to allow third-party app stores and direct sideloading. Regulators determined that Apple’s gatekeeping was anti-competitive.
