Sad to hear the news of Sydney Lotterby’s passing.Everything He worked on he turned to gold.Had revisited Ever Decreasing Circles only last week and this Gentleman certainly had the midas touch when it came to great comedies.

Very sorry to hear of the death of TV comedy producer-director Sydney Lotterby. In charge of many great BBC sitcoms over 40+ years. No space to list his credits but this is the man who cast Brian Wilde in Last of the Summer Wine. Enough said. RIP.

Sydney Lotterby, a prolific producer and director who saw ‘Summer Wine’ through many of its finest episodes, has passed away at 93. In a career spanning 1960 to 2005 he worked on everything from ‘Up Pompeii!’ to ‘As Time Goes By’ & from ‘The Liver Birds’ to ‘Yes, Prime Minister
