We are shocked and saddened by this evening’s news of the sudden passing of our dear friend Tamara Zahn, the founding president of Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. where she served from 1993-2012. Indianapolis has lost a civic icon who was a giant among corporate, nonprofit and elected leaders and peers. Her passion for Downtown Indy was unparalleled and unapologetic, which led to national recognition for outstanding urban revitalization, monumental development, and unrivaled beautification – all due to her inspired leadership and meticulous attention to detail. Tamara’s influence spanned the country and globe as a passionate champion for downtowns and urban cores where she was often called upon for her expertise, strategic wisdom, and civic advocacy. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Tamara’s husband Tim and their family and closest friends and colleagues. Our community has lost its greatest cheerleader.
